I'm a mechanical engineer by profession, and have always got engeering projects going on at home.

I design and make all sorts of items- recent projects include:
Design and construction of a homemade CNC (wood and foam) machine
Design and construction of a manual milling machine
Design and construction of various steam engines (and boilers, and fittings..)
Design and construction of tooling for my lathes
Design and construction of a generic XY table

the list goes on....

Tooling includes:
3 metalworking lathes (small, med and large gap bed)
1 manual milling machine with surface grinding attachment
1 cnc machine (wood, plastic and foam)
3D laser scanner

Oh and I now have a 3D printer... a printrbot Jr.
