Hi, thanks for testing this out. I've now updated my OpenSCAD code [see http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:39685 ] to be more DXF-friendly, and it compiles faster as a result.

You can now use the variable 'make_2d' for 2D file output (e.g. DXF files):

openscad snowflake.scad -D make_2d=true -o random_flake.dxf

The seed used is printed out at the start of the compilation just in case you see something you like. STL output also works, including with a specified seed :

openscad snowflake.scad -D rs=2048 -o flake_2048.stl
