This is my first Thingiverse upload! I decided to make this since it only includes a bag (pfft I dont care about dust when it could snap in my backpack!!)
I have yet to create it my self as my makerbot thing-o-matic still hasn't arrived :(
I printed a 1:1 ratio diagram of the headphone slot to make sure that the headphones would fit.
Im not sure if the clip will snap off since I haven't been able to experiment with the plastics flexibility yet ( still haven't made my first print!)
The case and cover are too big to print as a whole on a makerbot, and I wont be making them into split parts until my makerbot arrives.
I decided to upload the files either way for now in case anybody wants to use them with a bigger printer, or split the parts themselves and super glue them.
These parts were made on Autodesk Inventor. If anybody would like me to upload those files as well to modify them just let me know.

I have yet to print this myself so it will still be a work in progress!! But if anybody else prints it to try it out, I'd love feedback!

Oh and I also added the makerbot logo on the front :)

Update:
I'm uploading the split case and cover parts. The names are Cover_1, Cover_2, etc... If your going to build this on a printer that doesnt have a big enough build area for the whole pare, dont use the Cover.stl, use the ones I just described instead.
The cover and the case have been split into 9 parts each.

There will likely be updates to this so it is listed as work in progress since ive yet to print out the latest adjustments to the hinge and snap close features.

12-26-2011: Increased Headphone Hole size in spool to accomodate a different pair of headphones. Decreased Slot size in outercase.

11-15-2011: Updated Outercase parts to increase hinge hole size and surrounding material slightly. Modified Snap feature on top of case to increase width and depth of snap tab(tab broke off rather quickly on last revision, hopefully this will help.)

So I modeled up this dummy plug which I modeled off of a 3.5mm TRS(3 pin) Male ipod headphone connector.

I tested this in my iphone, ipod, and computer headphone jacks and it worked in all of them.

Due to their small size it would be a good idea to print multiples of these at one time to give each a chance to cool more before the next layer is added. I was able to print these without using a raft and used the multiple function in skeinforge to print 6-8 out at a time.
The undercuts on the bollards and the jack port should make it impossible, if not unrealistically expensive to make that way.

The picture is pretty self explanatory. Put earbuds in, wind and then push the jack end into the hole provided.

EDIT: This only seems to work with the new iPod / iphone earbuds with the volume control buttons on the cord. Thanks to all those who tried with other earbuds.
( unplggd.com/unplggd/turn-old-credit-cards-into-earbud-holders-146446 )

I loved the concept, but felt the design could be improved. This design significantly reduces the time it takes to wrap and unwrap. You wrap the long way, and the over-wrap locks things in quickly. The big speed improvement though, is on removal. As soon and you remove the over-wrap the entire cord bundle just slides off.

As an afterthought, I noticed that there's a nice area for business card-y stuff

This attaches to an Ikea Lack shelf (which is 50mm thick). The ABS will bend a little under the weight from the headphones. Or at least this one did (printed with 2 walls and 0.3 infill).
Version 4 has the bracket bend inwards slightly. This should reduce some of the sagging of the bracket under load.

I got the idea for this from Eagleapex. I loved the idea of having a 3d-printed headphone wrap, since I'm always shoving my headphones into my backpack in an untidy bunch.

This was to fulfill a need I had to control my iPhone earbuds. You can see all the revision here: eagleapex.com/de/owl-wrap/
And after showing it around, I put it on Esty and have sold a few.
The "O RLY?" is from my redrawing of Helvetica Neue UltraLight as single-line objects for vector etching.

Note: this doesn't fit the new Shuffle or iPhone 3GS earbuds with the 3 button remote. I'm working on an update.
