JCPC BMX pedal

The JCPC (Jim Cielinski PlastiC) is a pedal from the BMX company Odyssey (http://www.odysseybmx.com) and design/invented by George French from G-sport (http://www.gsportbmx.com), part of odyssey.

It is a plastic version of the original Jim cielencki pedal, a freestyle bmx rider who rides for the pro team of odyssey, and is world wide recognized by bmx riders for his pedal grinds.

What makes this pedal so special, is that it exists out of 2 plastic halves around a metal spindle that acts as a bearing for the whole pedal. the screws that hold both halves together are also the pins that provide grip to the pedal. and the best part, if you grind threw 1 side, you can just buy plastic halves and don't need to buy 2 new pedals.

The design i did does not have the concave for as the original, but is flat, so you have more space to grind on, and allows you to easy add a piece of aluminium or steel on the bottom of your pedal. (or titanium if you want sparks!)

I don't know if this will be of any use to anyone else because it is so specific, but I thought it was an elegant solution and a perfect use for my Makerbot.
My friend asked me for suggestions on a wobbly installation he had done.
His daughter wanted a plastic storage box attached to the back rack of her vintage bike. As a college student in theater, she carries lots of materials back and forth on her bike, and a girlish basket she had just did not cut it.
My friend had attached the box with wire and was not happy with the results.
So I took some measurements and two versions later I had these clips.
They're working well so far, and they look 100% better than the wire solution.

The one I had was a mix between the old style adjustable cups and newer cartridge type. Because it still uses lockrings, the tool itself doesn't need to take much force, I only needed it because the threads were in poor shape.

It clips onto the upright of my Brompton handle bar so that my light is the right way up. You can change the sizes of various parts in the top of the scad file and it should scale. I had to split it in two so that I could print the arch. Suggestions welcome for how to do it without the split.

Flashlight adapter for bicycle handlebars

PROBLEM! Your totally sweet bike does not currently emit enough light to allow you to ride in the dark without endangering yourself and/or your aformentioned totally sweet ride. What to do?

Well, there are a number of options open to you: you could hoard radium and staple it to your pedals, but that might cause things to glow in situations where it's not appropriate (for instance, secret missions). Glow sticks can be tough to find in a pinch, and taste horrible. Purpose-built bicycle headlamps can cost an arm and a leg and aren't really useful outside of bicycle-bound illumination.

In an effort to redress all of this, I've created an adapter that allows you to attach a small flashlight to the handlebars of your very own bicycle. Get a good standalone flashlight, and attach it to your bike only when you need a light! I use a 4sevens Quark Mini 123, but practically any small flashlight should fit.

This thing prints just fine without support, even if the geometry looks a little weird.

I lost the original that came with the bikes. I made 2 versions: one has a longer throat portion and it a bit tighter (it also has a circle on the top... something to look at while on the bike for hours). The other is plain.

I was inspired after I saw gpvillamil's bike light mount: thingiverse.com/thing:8947. This is the first official "useful" project on my ToM. The first month was spent printing lots of spiders, lions, and octopus variations. ;-)

If you don't know whether you have Schrader or Presta, if you're in the US you probably have Schrader, and if you're in Europe you probably have Presta.

HTC Evo multifunctional mount

With wanting to bike more and track distance, speed, calories etc. and with an upcoming road trip to New York for a wedding, I needed to get cracking on making a cell phone mount. I finally had some time this weekend to design, build and test this simple mount. It can be mounted to a bike or a car and also configured various ways for different applications; horizontal bars or vertical bars.

It's designed to fit the HTC Evo 4G with a Rocketfish case as seen here:
rocketfishproducts.com/products/phones-tablets-gps/RF-WR542.html

Some other cases may work just fine.

My inspirations:

thingiverse.com/thing:9195

thingiverse.com/thing:5260

Thanks guys!

Some features:

-speakers & camera not blocked, so the sound is not muffled
-microphone not blocked, so people can actually hear you
-micro USB port not blocked, so you can charge your phone while mounted
-volume rocker accessible and 3.5mm head phone jack accessible
-easy swapping between clamps and car flex mount
-low parts count! Yay, for anti-rotation designs.

The 3 point contact appears to hold the phone very well. I tested this off some really sweet jumps and my phone never wriggled loose...but test it out first. I did lots of shake tests and then copious amounts of curb jumping.

The mounting hardware for the light allows it to mount on the seat post, but then it will be covered by anything on the rack. It can be mounted on one of the support struts for the rack, but then it is quite low, and often gets knocked out of alignment.

The ideal place to mount is on the rack itself, which has a fitting for a mini license plate.

This object is an adapter for the bike light, that bolts onto the license plate fitting, and still has a functioning quick release for the light.

The OpenSCAD file is broken out into modules, so if you have a Planet Bike light set, you can re-use the mounting bracket and release lever and make your own custom light mountings!

Back then I used a metal elecronics enclosure but it was still not ideal or professional looking although it didn't look too bad and did the job.

Enter the 3D printer...

Now I was able to design a brand new custom box which will look 100 times better and also be easier to use.

The large lower section is at this stage necessary to accomodate the power cable attachment that clips onto the GPS unit.

I plan to eliminate the standard power cable and therefore the bulky lower box section. I want to integrate a power connector into the base of the holder and thereby eliminating the unsightly standard power cable. I can't "hide" the standard cable as I also use it in my car. Then I can leave it in the car permanently.

Use it at your own risk. Mine is not completely air tight at the outside (the side where you attach the compressor), but this is not a disadvantage as it prevents pumping too much air in.
