The pile of miscellaneous cards on my desk was getting to be a bit much, so I printed out this organizer. Holds standard business card, appointment card, credit card sized. Might need to be widened for some of the more exotic business cards.

I saw this link a few days ago( instructables.com/id/Robotic-claw-business-card/ ) I was going to make it, but then I remembered me making a paper claw a few weeks ago, so instead of making a copy of someone else's design, I made my own! And also their design had gears, it would be hard to cut it out without a laser cutter, because I don't have one. So I used the mechanism from my claw and put it into this business card, and it works, and I suggest if you are going to make it, use a laser cutter, This was kinda hard to do and I had to use wire instead of the disks in it to move.

If anyone would like to test this to make sure that the parts work, go right ahead! I also think it could be 3d printed, if someone would like to modify it and test that out!

And ignore the pink post-it note, I had my name printed there and I dont want it to be online.

I wanted to experiment using my Filament joiner to make prints that had different coloured finishing layers (at different heights) on an object.
A business card seemed a suitable object to start with as I could place things and text onto it and vary the height of each object.

This is an earlier design that I had for the Iris Business Card. It has a slightly different build that allows for more than 3 leafs.

This is an iris mechanism built into a business card sized card. For simplicity and to help keep the thickness low it only has 3 leafs. This particular design does not scale well to more leafs unless it is made much larger. The initial design did have 4 leafs and is built in a way that would allow it to scale to a different number of leafs more easily. If anyone is interested I could upload that as well.

Trying to render my business card to print on my TOM.

I got the inspiration for this from Dmatsumoto's thingiverse.com/thing:1637 calibration piece. I was having all kinds of trouble with filled-in pieces, but my Cupcake would make beautiful single strand walls.
So I drew a single strand walled box to fit a set of business cards and I added a bottom. My version has square corners because I ran into trouble in Blender when working with the rounded corners, I think it was the way I added the bottom. (I could not open the exported stl file in ReplicatorG-23 -- just a slew of error messages.)
Another challenge was that Skeinforge (35) did not like the cutout part at the top edge that you can see on the top photo. I had designed the box with the cut-out but it would just stop building at the bottom of the cutout making it a shorter box.
So I just made a square box the full height and then cut out the design afterwards.
The top fits very nicely and the "seam" that runs along the one side provides enough friction so that it does not slip off.
At 95mm it is the tallest piece I’ve made so far!
I'm also including the stl file with the cut-out design that I was not able to build, (BuinessCardBox-3.stl), maybe some of you will have better luck (or skill) than me.

3d Printed 2 Color Business Card. It's the same size as a playing card (2.5in x 3.5in) so it's more like a plaque. Mostly it's to show what the detail capabilities are for your machine.

I wanted to promote my rocketry website ( ibuildrockets.com ) in a creative way - so I selected a V2 rocket and created a 2-part stand-up model with my URL along the edge.

The rocket is about 80mm high and 2.8mm thick. The two pieces fit onto a business-card size piece of Acrylic.

Got idea from others on this site. Modified parts to increase # of gears and added business card side to put info on.

Tried a thinner set - but it was too flexible. Main gear 'may' require some sanding on outside teeth based on fit and material.

This was printed on an Alaris 30 Polyjet printer. I used a drop of oil on the main gear to get it going - then washed it out. Lettering is extruded cut into surface - used model paint to fill in.

Visit any brick-and-mortar business that has a service counter and you will likely see a small plastic or wood easel holding a stack of business cards. I have also seen this type of easel used in restaurants, museums and offices holding up some kind of fixed message card.

The upper photo shows a business card (87mm X 50mm) on the easel to get an idea of size. The easel itself is 47mm X 40mm (W X H) and leans back at something like 17 degrees.

This easel will hold a dozen flat business cards and there is a 0.7mm lip on the leading edge of the easel's ledge to help hold the cards in place.

As the name states this is a business card sized device that folds out into a little desktop catapult. It can be used for launching various small objects.

After making many of my original Cardapult design (posted on Instructables) I decided it needed to be revamped to make it both simpler and stronger. The axles were beefed up to 3/8" from 1/4" and the upper arm was lengthened and lightened for better performance. The legs were simplified to cut down on the number of parts.

This is a business card that shoots US pennies. It has a little magazine that pops up and allows you to load up to 10 pennies. Then you can just pull back the slide and release to shoot a penny, and repeat until all the pennies are gone.

A laser cut business card that folds into a working caliper.

Little microkit / business cards. Poke hole, place parts, twist leads together. The LEDs light up in the dark.

This business card is a tri-folded laser cut card meant to look like a old school cassette tape.

The advantage this card has over other is that there's a zipper seal (like on UPS envelopes) on the back of the card that lets you open it like a tri-fold brochure so you can fit a mini-portfolio or a bunch of text on your usually too small business card.

This design gives you about 3.5 x 4in of space that you can't see when the card is folded and sealed.

It's possible to print the card on standard thickness paper, or card stock, though printing and folding normal paper turns out to be the the most similar to a standard business card in thickness.
