(not to be confused with the purple one used in Quark's which I'll try making later because it's a little more complex) Since I started re-watching DS9 on Netflix, I kept seeing this mug and thought it would be a good excuse to try making something with Sketchup for a change.
I wasn't too happy with the quality of the mug so I also uploaded a smooth version that I loaded into Blender and decimated/subsurface divisioned a few times then used Meshmixer to smooth it some more.

Two Colour(Color) Spiral Cup

An updated version of the spiral cup for those of you lucky enough to be able to print in stereo 3D!

You could print it in red and blue and fill with silver (or white) starts for US based patriotic occasions. see: thingiverse.com/thing:5014 for stars - scale at 50%. imprint your phone number or a stick a QRCode on the back of each star as a hand out, or fill with star shaped candies/mints.

Or maybe print in Silver and Gold...

Note for "would be" stereo STL generators:
I originally uploaded the base and top STL files after generating them using OpenSCAD. It quickly occurred to me that I hadn't thought about any overlapping regions between the two STLs. In the original combined STL, any overlapping objects in the scene would automatically become union-ed. But, in a two colour print, these areas would have both materials dispensed. I revised the base STL by subtracting (difference) the top STL from it prior to uploading.

so, instead of:
pencilCup(true); in one STL and
pencilCup(false); in the other.

I should have used:
pencilCup(true); in one STL and
difference() { pencilCup(false); pencilCup(true); } in the other.

Your guests invariably get their cups all mixed up, and just create extra work for the dishwasher (you).

I came up with a simple idea, which is to make a ring with an embossed section for the name. My first attempt was just the ring and I wrote my name in sharpie. The improved version was inspired by Tony Buser's Parametric Name Tag (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2055). However, I wanted to use a specific true type font and therefore couldn't use his work, so I based my approach off of example008 in the OpenSCAD examples folder. I didn't like the ring-around-the-middle-of-the-glass approach, so I changed the parameters so the ring just sits on the table (but you're still free to change it!)

This was my first piece with OpenSCAD, and boy do I love it.
