Anyone who has operated a laser cutter knows that the surface to be cut needs to be as flat as possible.

This simple clamp helps you to level the sheets of wood, acrylic, etc when laser cutting.

The shaft is 5 mm in diameter.

It's simply two .dxf files put together in openscad. The supplied .stl file is ~7cm in diameter.

Source files are supplied, so you should be able to tweak it to your liking. The .svg file is made in inkscape, and contains both a smooth vector version, and a simplified straight-lines-only version.

Designed this little laser cut iPhone 4 case for a bit of fun. It cuts quick and doesn't take much material. If you get the kerf on your laser right it just clips on one piece at a time.

For some reason all of the highish end headphones I have owned have a 10 foot cord which is way too long so I made a cord winder to knock the length down to a manageable level. You would never know it with the cord wrapped around it but this is a happy cord winder.

This is just a tiny set square that I am using when building as a reference in blender, where scale isn't obvious.

I've built it though, and it's a cute little set square, though the markings don't come out at the level of detail I can build.

I picked up an older Sony Vaio at the thrift store, but it was missing the memory and the memory cover. The previous user thought they had removed the hard drive, lol! This fits the PCQ-6Q1L

The Simple Ipad Stand is err an Ipad stand. It's not rocket science but it does the job very well and I use mine all the time. It allows for vertical or horizontal use and can also be used as a rest to type.

It also can be used as a picture frame holder.

This is my version of the mantis router, makeyourbot.org/mantis9-1 as designed originally by David Carr. This design is adapted to metric sizes (do away with Henry IV's thumb!)and enlarged to a groundplate of 30x30 cm. The working volume is slightly more than 190 x 130 x 40 mm, depending on how precise you work.

We recently held a Digital Fabrication Awareness Weekend (FAB CAMP Liverpool) at LJMU's Art and Design Academy - this laser cut wooden box was a freebie in the delegates packs and they were instructed on how to create their own lid designs as part of the learning sessions.

This is a simple 3-legged stand I made for my brother. Made from 15mm plywood it's quite large (see pdf) but you can scale the design down to any size required. The height is adjustable and overall the stand is quite sturdy. I gave it a single coat of varnish to protect it from moisture (it's used as a stand for a small telescope)

Provided are all solidworks source files and cutting diagram as metric dxf.

This is my second lasercut project, after a few shadowpuppets I produced.

A cardboard wine rack. Holes are 3.5" in diameter -- too small for Magnums, but about right for a standard 750mL bottle. As an added bonus, a variety of stars and coasters are cut out of the waste cardboard.

Inspired by robyward's Assymetric Wine Rack thingiverse.com/thing:4965 -- but I modified the design to fit the limitations of my 12x24 build materials.

TODO for version 2:
- make the holes bigger. 3.6" would allow some larger bottles to fit.
- ditch the side holes, they aren't secure enough for bottles.
- make the struts wider.

Just a box with a top. The top is sized to accommodate for shrink swell of ABS plastic during extrusion. The Top has a nice press-fit when built on a Fortus machine.

I needed a bit bigger wine rack so I designed this little 10 or 11 bottle wine rack which does the job nicely. I made it out of 3mm MDF, but it would look better in a nicer material.

these are some parts i need for my repstrap but i thought i would share them any how.

for the most part you can make them with any flat materal the middle and top piece are the same piece pretty much i just added the other things to it so that i could get a better feel for it, they are pretty simple but thats not a bad thing,

I wanted to tryout making parametric designs in openscad, and liked this;

But I needed an stl to process in skeinforge and work with my repstrap. I have almost recreated it in openscad. There are some differences in design but similar in outcome. Unfortunately openscad does not have a random function and does not handle recursion...

The provided stl prints a little more fragile than I'd like. And I found it's a pretty good test of a 3d printer for christmas.

Phenanthrene is a polyaromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) formed of three fused benzene rings and which is found in both interstellar space and diesel exhaust. In chemistry it (and the related molecule phenanthroline) are used as ligands and which are typically bound to a central metal atom. Someone in the lab heard I had a 3D printer and asked me to make a replacement part for a broken PCR machine. The part was a flat black rail that was used as a lid interlock by the machine, to hold the heated lid down on samples during PCR.

Because the part was just screwed down, I measured the dimensions of the lid interlock and the screws for the original part, and threw something together in OpenSCAD (after much procrastination).

It's not as sturdy as the original part, but as anyone who works in a lab will know, the costs of getting anything technical repaired often exceed the price of a new machine. So, I'll just print 20 of these so the machine can have a nice long life!

The machine was, to be precise, a big red Biometra T-gradient machine, which the lab was using to do 96-well plate PCRs. The heated lid was essential for the task or the samples would all evaporate.

I started this project long, long ago. I was teaching at TechShop and had the time, tools, and a drive to make something serious. You see, I have had this long history of mixed emotions about steampunk. On the one hand, it is a wonderful and beautiful to look back on generations past and reflect on all the awesome things they have done. It is great to be inspired by Tesla and Grahm Bell and all the guys slaving away in steel mills wearing top hats. On the other hand steampunk has also become a label for hastily made shoddy things muddled together with hot glue, watch gears, and brass spray paint.

Often times my philosophy is to not have opinions on things until I have done something substantial to justify them. This is me putting my money where my mouth is. This is my highly engineered, hard labor, meticulously calculated answer to why steampunk is awesome. There can be so much cool in the intersection between math and metal and leather and science and I think everyone should give it a try.

These are my new thick sheet parts for RepRap Mendel. I was inspired by the mounting plate for the TechZone boards (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2174). I used a modified version of this for my mother board and extruder. And then made a board for my steppers. I have also included my modified froglet that is simpler for cutting out with saws.

This is a design for a simple rubber band gun. it has a small magazine of rubber bands, and is operated by pulling back on the front handle to push the rubber bands of their pegs. it can be sized up and down to your specifications, provided all parts are in the scale they are now. Try to make it better!
