I remodeled my office with "nicer" painted floors and didn’t want my favorite desk chair’s caster wheels leaving imprint marks upon the floor.

In order to prevent marking the floor due to the direct contact of the chair’s wheels I designed some foot pads / boots for them.

On each foot pad I placed a felt furniture pad on the underside, thus preventing scuffing the floor.

Yes, the boot prevents the wheel from rolling, but that was a fair tradeoff and actually part of the design for me.

I designed the boot in the free version of Google Sketchup and a large design goal was to solve the problem with a minimal amount of material.

The final model took my MakerBot about 30 minutes to print each boot, which I still think is too long for the purpose. I'd like to see a simpler solution that prints under 10 minutes on my configuration, but currently I've printed out what I need so don't really care about futzing around with further adjustments. Sorry, but it's the truth :)
The files below are provided in 1/2" = 1'-0" scale, also known as 1:24.

My design goals were:
Maintain delicate proportions, but balance the need for durability.
Print without support
Good looking resolution, with little cleanup needed

This does print at 50% (1/4" scale or 1:48) but is very fragile. I imagine that printing at 200% (1" scale or 1:12, typical dollhouse scale) would require support, and I have not tested it.
I've tried printing this, and it seems to be hollow as designed, but I can't get the only wire I've got to go all the way around all the curves. Maybe someone else will have better wire, a better print, or a cunning plan, for making it work.

The hollow ends with a gap in the middle of the tab to attach to the main candelabra body - ideally, the wires should be able to rejoin the main body through that.

- UPDATE [5th September] -
Two newly updated versions - both with the split tab raised up to the half-way mark.

Version 07 has a ridge along the end of the tab as a support leg.
Version 08 changes the ridges to 'T' shaped, to avoid a printing island.

(In game, you'd find the relevant prop in Jensen's apartment.)

27.5cm (10.8") tall without glow-sticks
40cm (15.7") tall with glow-sticks installed.
152g (5.4oz) of plastic, printed and trimmed.
8hrs (approx) printing time.

I had to take a few liberties with the design of the 'candle holding cups' for easier printing - those flat gentle curves couldn't survive without support. Instead, I went for a sharply faceted holder, which I personally prefer - I like the low-poly look.

Folks, if we are to get to the Diamond Age, we are going to have to start printing furniture. We simply cannot shy away from destiny or from Mr. Stephenson's vision. A humble end table is a good place to start, then on to desks, chairs, beds & beyond. This end table has the following dimensions: Tabletop 11.75” square, 1/2” thick. Height of table with 5 inserts and a base and a top: 19.75” With 6 inserts: 22.25” tall. You can add or subtract inserts to vary the height.

Furniture can actually be art. If you search for table art in Google images, you can see stuff that's a lot more creative than what I'm doing. But I would submit to you, dear reader, that because the table is, near as I can tell, the first Makerbot printed usable end table without using wood and because the puzzle design of the top is mildly interesting and because the table is sort of aesthetically pleasing that it is (in its own way) art. I mean, c'mon, Warhol used soup cans!!

This design is simple using only 6 different printed parts. There are aspects of this project that can be used in other efforts. One of my fondest desires is to break into the custom computer case field. Becoming facile with easily assembled larger structures is crucial to this. The puzzle piece method can help to get me there. Also, the legs may be sturdy enough to implement into a chair design, but I'm not sure yet. A stool could be made with only a few modifications.

The limitations are only time and plastic. From design to print, this project took two weeks.
This is a piece of urban furniture, developed through a process of collaborative design using digital design and digital fabrication tools. The piece works as an urban bench. It can be used as well as a small stage. It is built in 12 mm plywood, using a simple contour/section technique.

Dimensions: 2418 mm x 3180 mm x 642 mm

It is in the way of being parametrized [with Grasshopper] so that it can be adapted to different situations and sites. The design was developed within the Fabbing CC project, that took place in Caceres [Spain].

As it is one of our first tries with these object size the piece has to be considered a beta version. Improvements to be made include [1] the redesign of joints to make the press fit process smoother and more comfortable and [2] to include some kind of pieces in the joints that keep the sections in their position once they are there, and [3] a better design of the contact between the piece and the ground, that allows [a] for an easier assemblage process, [b] for easy adjustment to uneven ground, and [c] for protection from ground humidity affecting the plywood; [4] general dimensions can be improved too in order to have a more efficient use of the size of plywood sheets [especially concerning horizontal pieces. These piece was designed for a specific site and position that conditioned our dimensions, which were not very efficient.

Design, fabrication and assemblage team: The Sevilla Fablab team 2011, Jose Buzon, Carla Boserman, Adolfo Chautón, Jaime Diez, Manuel Gutierrez de Rueda, Juanjo Olmo, Jose Perez de Lama, Juan Carlos Pérez Juidias, Juanjo Pulido, Jose M. Sanchez Laulhe, Juan Carlos Venegas, Sabah Walid.
