If yes, you might remember the hassle with ugly brittle plastic pseudo-greenhouses and difficult to handle soil and pots. Here is the solution! A beautiful and sturdy desktop greenhouse with a highly convenient seedling handling system. It comes with a pot press for creating temporary soil packages made of newspaper. When the seelings are big enough, they can be easily taken out from the greenhouse and planted directly with the pot, as the paper will quickly decompose.

The perfect thing for urban gardening, recycling and DIY!
It fits over the box, so no modifications to the router are needed. It changes the radiation pattern to a pie-segment shape: horizontally it is about 120degrees wide, vertically it is much narrower.
The dimensions are limited by the lasercutter I used, an antenna with more slots would give a better gain.
I have not tested this antenna yet...

PrinterHome - A home for your PrintrBot!

The PrinterHome is the all-encompassing home for your PrintrBot - printrbot.com (Original or LC but not the larger Plus model), its accessories and tools.

If you are interested in this Thing, please Like it! If you have any suggestions for improvements or changes, please leave comments below.

Your PrintrBot and power supply live inside its thermally protected enclosure, your filament resides on the back.

This is very much still a work in progress. Currently, the PrintrBot is not mounted or affixed in any way to the PrinterHome. Nor will the top fully enclose until I complete the mounting system and PrintrBot base modifications.

I designed the PrinterHome enclosure while in the presence of a MakerBot Replicator, so there are definitely some design influences. However, I take pride in having created it from scratch in Corel Draw with no prior design experience. Thus you might see some discrepancies and mistakes. These WILL be fixed as I continue to improve the design.

To do:

1) Create a proper 'Top' for the PrinterHome that allows for safe filament feeding and proper X-carriage/extruder range of motion, while still retaining its most important purpose: Avoiding unwanted thermal variance.

2) Design a friendlier window mounting solution that allows easier access to the print bed and has less of a gap between the enclosure and the window material. Maybe magnets!

3) A proper lighting mount solution using readily available flexible or inflexible (Ikea DIODER strips come to mind. It's what's currently used in the pictures.

Changes
1-22-2013: Deleted and renamed files to properly reflect the final Thing Name I have chosen.

I also changed everything to 3mm plywood and put it on a 400x300 sheet (the material available at my local FabLab).
Paths to cut have a width of 0.01mm, paths to engrave are 0.5mm.

Display for wooden plates

I was cleaning the shelf where all the 3D-printed and lasercutted objects are being presented and I was getting annoyed about some engraved plates of wood that just wouldn't stand straight because of the glass bottomplate.

So I decided to design a simple display where I could place them in. I made it of 3mm plywood. The engraved plates are 3mm thick so I decided to make the notch 4mm thick. Then it would be possible for some other plates to be placed in there to. It al is made with the lasercuttingmachine and the different parts slide into each other.
The bed is made from a single sheet of 18mm Birch plywood and the sides from another sheet of 12mm Birch ply. I was working with "living hinges" made from zig-zag cut wood and wanted to see if a whole chair could be made that was flexible enough to bend around the curved form but strong enough to support a person. The clamping joint and "T" peg make it super sturdy once it is assembled. It is really comfy to sit on and makes a wonderful lounger for watching TV, reading or just hanging out. An extra bonus - the lower bed is at pet-level. The family dog, cat or raccoon (some families are bigger than others!) can enjoy the ride with you!

The most obvious change I removed the perch and added a predator guard instead. I read from many sources that a perch is never needed for the inhabitants and only serves as perch for a predator to eat them instead.

The purpose of the predator guard is to add 1.5 inches between the entrance and the nesting.

I added air vents on the top front and back and 4 small drains at the bottom. These help make for a healthy nest.

I could not find any 3mm plywood at my local Home Depot, so I changed the depth of all the finger joints to accommodate 5mm plywood. Interesting, this is also works for the width of common shipping box cardboard. I made a great cardboard version too.

I also made some of the joints a little larger so that it could be practically cut with a CNC machine as the one in the picture was cut (while I finish work on my new laser cutter). It will cut fine on a laser cutter too.

The birdhouse in the picture has not been glued yet.

I found a very nice design and made a new construction by using a CAD program. The bird house is made of 3mm plywood. Now I hope that the birds will love it.

I have changed some details in the construction. The hole has a diameter of 32mm. This is the optimal diameter for birds like titmouses.
I have also shortened the lenght of the perch.
