            <title>Academy Chess Set</title>

The class scanned fellow students for pawns, bishops, knights and rooks. They scanned their art teacher for the queen and their history teacher for the king.   <br />

Scans done with 123Dcatch (http://www.123dapp.com/catch) and meshmixer(http://www.meshmixer.com/) for cleaning with Makerbot Curriculum (http://curriculum.makerbot.com/2012/capturing_images.html#) as a guide.  <br />

Painted in acrylics. Playing table and board made with particle board and glass tiles.   <br />

I'm giving this info in case the amount of plastic used to print is of concern.  We have a Han Solo frozen in Carbonite that was actually gift wrap we made for an Ipad mini that I will scan and put up if anyone is interested, we're still learning how to use the scanner and are having difficulty with that model.

Each scan has an "original" version and a "final" version. The final ones have been cropped and cleaned a bit and are ready for 3D printing.<br />
<br />
If you'd like to do more extensive cleanup, grab the original version and use your favourite 3D software to work on it.<br />
<br />

            <title>Delicate Arch</title>

The arch was captured accurately in 3D using a FARO Focus 3D laser scanner as well as some areas captured using the free Autodesk 123D Catch which turns multiple photos from a digital camera to 3D models. <br />

I am posting the small reduced sized STL file so everyone can 3D print their own Delicate Arch. The lines produced from a MakerBot add even more realism to this sandstone arch and you can even wash it lightly with acetone  to smooth it up . The fine detailed arch is actually gigabytes in size.<br />

I was pretty blown away by the results. The undserside of her arm has a little sag, but other than that I feel like the free service did a pretty great job of creating a model from the archive of 40 images I uploaded.

This model is of the scan of Soppho's Head. I think this model is absolutely beautiful and was thrilled to find it. The STL has been given a flat bottom and fixed for holes in netfabb.<br />

I printed her in White PLA from ProtoParadigm. At arms length she looks like she was cast in plaster.<br />
<br />
UPDATE: Added a slic3r friendly version by richrap that is half sized and tilted back 5 degrees.
