a turning disc for your duplo trains
or roundtable / roundhouse

my 1st try ever
i'm still very new to al this and comments are verry welcome
and if you want to make i deriative i would be pleased

note that these are all sollids (it probably would make more sence to make the parts hollow)
and i would like to ad holes on the bottom so duplo bloks fit underneath.
and some duplo studs on top to connect duplo there
alsow i want to make "pits" and "hills"
that would give a *auto allign" to the six positions the turning disc has

idealy i would like to see shomething with gears and a turning knob.

for now i added a pin you can push for easier turning
i hope you LIKE it, and please let me know what you think

before i forget its HUGE!,
the finished version wouldbe a cut up version, that you can put together after printing
why its so big? its 2 duplo tracks long so it will fit nicely in your duplo track design.

the long track part is just there because i used it as a tool to create the round table

This spacer will not need another nut (will just fit) to fix the tonearm.
This spacer is 3.70mm high which I found the best choice for the Denon DL-110 Cartridge. If you need a different height, let me know and I'll upload one...

Heavy Duty Lazy Susan for Full Body Scanning

Ever since discovering ReconstructMe, I've been looking for a suitable turntable setup for creating full body scans of people. Most of the plans out there are for tabletop photo or scanning setups that won't handle a lot of weight.

Lo and behold, I found these plans cheesycam.com/motorized-lazy-susan-heavy-duty/, for using the
front wheel hub assembly from a car as the rotation bearing and an electric drill to power turning it. My implementation can be built for around $100.

This device is the centerpiece of my Coney Island Scan-A-Rama Project- a next generation photo booth in which subjects are scanned and printed.

Update 10/16/2012
I have added a 12volt 4RPM high torque rotisserie motor with a 3D printed pulley driving a bicycle inner tube belt drive. I just uploaded images of the motor (got it on ebay), the updated assembly, as well as source files for my pulley print, with slots for a set screw and nut.

The previous worked fine, but I got local supply for my ABS filament, and it's rolled in a larger diameter. Instead of cutting a bigger piece of cardboard, I decided it's time to make it sturdier.

However it has a few problems - the large gear is slightly stripped and the table design is a pain because there's a giant hole in the center that makes it hard to sit objects in the center.

I used the MCAD openscad library github.com/D1plo1d/MCAD to create a new gear that sort of works, but the teeth are tiny and I'm having trouble getting it to mesh well. The cap I designed on the other hand works great and now I have a totally flat surface - yay MakerBotted!

Inspired in part by : thingiverse.com/thing:4641 which is an even easier option for a filament spool

Also usefull as a cheap revolving tabletop thing (note that the spokes tilt slightly upwards before attempting to put anything flat on it), unsure yet of how much weight it will hold.

I'm planning on adding more components (such as a bolt on filament guide and central core to hold the filament neatly) so more to come.

Note: Numbers on part filenames are just part of my rudimentry version management

This is a turntable for a 3dscanner. I've designed it so that it's either printable or millable. However, if you are milling then know that there is alot of wastage. It can be produced with a makerbot and all parts are withing 10x10. It requires a solarbotics gm3 motor.

I actually created this a few months ago and put it on the reprap blog, but never got around to putting it up here. Especially given zignig made and posted his on the exact same day.

3D scanner , first cut

This is my first cut of a 3D turntable scanner that can be printed on a cupcake/reprap. It is by no means finished but it is a start.

It has a turntable driven by a motor ( a size I had in my 'bits' box ) and mounts for a camera and the laser line drawer.

It needs heaps more work but I thought I'd put the first cut into the thingiverse and see what people came up with

The blender file of the complete device is included in the tar gzip file. I have not uploaded all the stl files individually , grab the zip if you want them all.

To build it you will need a 608 bearing , 5mm (or 3/8 ) rod , some M4-20 bolts , a motor , webcam , laser pointer and possibly a PHD in quantum physics :P

There is no software yet but this

sjbaker.org/wiki/index.php?title=A_Simple_3D_Scanner

looks like a good start; combined with an arduino to index the wheel and some scripting this could be a automatic scanner.
