It has 24 LEDs controlled by a ATTiny2313.

This is work in progress, no firmware yet.
I probably won't be able to finish this for this year's Christmas, so if you want to give it a try, go ahead!

It's made of 30 identical S-shaped pieces.
Original by George W. Hart
Remade by Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories

There are already another two here on thingiverse:
thingiverse.com/thing:724 by vrogy
thingiverse.com/thing:5449 by virginia

My version is a bit different. It's designed to be cut from wood and has self-interlocking pieces. No glue required!
Because it is so thin now, the used magnet does not fit it in any more (I'll just glue it instead). Changed the OpenSCAD script to toggle on/off the magnet (default is off now).
For a change my version now has 5 blades.

The joints also do not stick out of the holes in the ellipse gear, avoiding the gears to get stuck during the rotation.
