Unfortunately we didn't have enough space to place two tables and two recliners side-by-side so we ended up putting two tables together. Now we have a house cat (who is no light weight) that loves to jump on tables. It doesn't take much weight in the wrong place to tip over a table with three legs. Since we hat the tables together where two legs of one table were right next to two legs of the other table I decided to come up with a clamp to connect the legs together giving us a single table with six legs which is much more stable. I used four clamps, two on the bottom and two on the top and now the cat can jump on the table to his hearts desire and still not tip it over - of course that still doesn't prevent him from knocking everything off the table but it's a start.

GA Tech Logo sign

This is the Georgia Institute of Technology (GA Tech) logo that I printed for my favorite EE Professor Dr. John B. Peatman ece.gatech.edu/about/personnel/bio.php?id=80

It was created starting with the GaTechYellowJacket.gif file that I downloaded from the Internet (because it was a nice 3 color logo). From this image I used GIMP gimp.org to create two black and white images (GaTechYellowJacket-Yellow.jpg and GaTechYellowJacket-Black.jpg) and then I uploaded these to the Shapeways and used their 2D to 3D tool shapeways.com/creator/2d_to_3d/ to create two STL files (GaTechYellowJacket-Yellow.stl and GaTechYellowJacket-Black.stl). These I then combined using the OpenSCAD openscad.org script (GaTechYellowJacket.scad) with a square (or round) backplate, then the yellow layer and finally the black layer on top.

This is then the different STL files: GaTechYellowJacket-Square-18x18.stl, GaTechYellowJacket-Round-18.stl, GaTechYellowJacket-Square.stl and GaTechYellowJacket-Round.stl. The one I printed for John as a present was the first one (GaTechYellowJacket-Square-18x18.stl).

I came across the Yet another dispenser for filament spools
by Think_3D and the SIMPLE SPOOL HOLDER FOR MENDEL which I liked very well but it had some problems. The main problem was due to the fact that the spool is so low and far back that the filament would rub against the threaded bar which was not good. There are quite a number of different solutions to this problem, mine was the Mendel Filament Guide which is the ancestor of this thing. It snapped onto the top of the Mendel and allowed using left over round bar as a guide so the filament didn't rub against the threaded bar. This served its purpose but as one Thingiverse user pointed out required round bar that he didn't have on hand. It also proved something else; my snapin design worked very well. Then a couple of weeks ago I saw the Over The Top Spool Holder V2 by BackyardWorkshop and thought that this was very similar to my snap-on filament guide. I especially liked the idea that the spool was mounted above and not as far behind such that the filament went straight down. That thing had to be held by M8 nuts and I thought I could improve upon that so I started with my Mendel Filament Guide thing and then decided where I wanted the center of the filament spool to be relative to the guide holder and put it there. Then I added to circular support struts such that the snap-in capability wasn't lost and then added a support circle with the RepRap LOGO.

With the dimensions provided it is perfect for holding my Kindle 3 WLAN inside its leather protective cover. I simply screwed the left and right holder into the proper location of my bed frame and I'm all set to go.

The tear drop holes on the front are more for decorative purposes than out of necessity. It gives it that RepRap Look!
So I thought, why not use a left over piece of 8mm smooth bar to fix it.

And to easily mount this I needed some quick snap in brackets, so here they are!
Then you may need this parametric foot.
I created this because a colleague at work has such a chair and one of the plastic feet broke.
Since he has a linoleum floor he needed a replacement and asked me for one.
Here it is...
The two small legs just do not provide a stable platform especially if you fill the inside of the Android Guy with something.

In order to fix this problem I created a base where the Android Guys feet fit into providing a stable platform. He can still be removed from the base since it is not necessary to glue him to it.

It uses the Global Dynamics Logo by Modelmaker and does some modification: resizing, rotation and copying to create an open pyramid where one can display a model.

The current version of the file only has a 3mm hole in the top so you can use any piece of filament that you want to adjust the height to.
It makes use of two 624 bearings in addition to the required 608 bearing.
It would also be possible to use four 624 bearings or to use no 624 bearings. I thought using two was a good compromise. If you decide to use no 624 bearings then the height of the middle ring can be reduced to 16mm (same as the outer ring) or even 12mm.
