Recycled Bottle Coat Hanger

This hanger was requested by a friend who is very environmentally conscious. I thought this was a great way to recycle 2 bottles while utilizing the TOM's capabilities! A design similar to this by Chinese designer Xuan Yu inspired this thing's creation.

One thing to note is that the holes to accept the threads to the bottles are not threaded. A compression fit seems to work well enough.

This thing is part of a final project for CPSC 183 Technology and the Law with Prof. Brad Rosen at Yale University. The idea of this project is to ask friends for ideas for physical objects that they would like to have that could be printed on the Makerbot TOM. I have designed them, printed them out and given them to the people who requested them. I also have uploaded them here to Thingiverse to add to the library of physical objects that people find cool, useful, or just plain fun!
Inspired by Josef Hartwig's Model I chess set created in 1922 at Bauhaus Weimar.
This set is at the ~original size, and need an big board to be played ! ^^

It was done as an Blender learning exercise based on MOMA picture and the globals dimensions they gave and we gess the others with proportions and eye.
Exercise supervised by LeoM [ thingiverse.com/LeoM ] for Le_Garage.

Enhanced Cryptex

This is a fairly large Cryptex, which is a personal storage vault for valuable items or documents based on a concept described in The Davinci Code. This particular design is easily picked and so it is more appropriate for fun than the actual storage of valuable items. Kids love it!

My design is based on the excellent creation of pasutx, which is also available on Thingiverse. My goal was to create a Cryptex that did not require any separate parts, paper or gluing. It can be easily modified to make it more secure by adding additional "deception" stops on the Outer Tube.

This Cryptex was created for a friend's birthday so it unlocks when the wheels are aligned as DEC14.

I suggest printing the Inner Tube and Outer Tube in separate colors if that capability is available to you. It looks great when the combination is dialed in and the two tubes are separated.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the integrated design of the embossed lettering on the wheels and one piece stops on the tubes, this design will likely only print on a printer that includes support material. I printed this Cryptex on a Dimension BST with tolerances of .01 and all parts are appropriately tight, but operate smoothly. If anyone has suggestions that will allow the design to print without support material, I'm willing to give it a try.

I will upload a video of the working Cryptex on YouTube.

This type of pump is common in the food processing industry because it can efficiently pump slurries (like soup) without crushing the contents. This one pumps 32 cc/revolution (neglecting whatever leaks back through the seals) and is capable of pumping water (milk is shown for contrast).

I thought this might be useful as a paste extruder or something of that nature. It's better than a peristaltic pump because no flexible hose is needed (which tend to reduce efficiency and wear out), plus it doesn't pulse.
