I thought that SketchUp users may appreciate a plugin that makes the exporting of 3D models to 2D vector graphics a bit easier. The plugin (ruby scripts) allows the user to select SketchUp faces and export the oulines of these faces to a Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file.

The plugin was developed to help with constructing designs for laser cutting, but I know of people who use it for CNC routing as well.

This latest version of the plugin hasn't been tested with any laser cutting yet (I'm working on some designs at the moment), but I know how Thingiverse users like to be on the bleeding edge ;-P

I thought that it would be nice to have some helping hands, so I designed some.

This is my design for a landscape iPod nano "hand" holder - hence the cheesy "i" prefix to the name.

I don't know why I didn't make this design available a long time ago, but I just remembered I was hanging onto it when I could have been sharing it.
The design is free of charge. You can use it on the proviso that you share a small part of your personal expertise in the education of others. You can do this in any way that you wish and your contribution need only be small.
This is a design that I put together for PonokoID ponoko.com/ponoko-id. I came up with the design based on the requirements for a Wired Magazine article. It's a fun and simple design that can be made with a few odds and ends from the local hardware store.

I really want to see someone come up with a 5UP design that looks like 5 health bars out of a computer game. Enjoy.
Kate’s passion for improving literacy in Western Australia will live on in the many lives she has touched. To respect Kate’s ideals, this design is provided to the community for others to build upon.

The design is free of charge. You can use it on the proviso that you share a small part of your personal expertise in the education of others. If you’re a busy person then you can always contribute to a charity like The Fred Hollows Foundation hollows.org (Kate’s chosen charity).

This cottage sign is made from ply wood and is doubled sided. It features pyrographic hatching for text and illustration. There are also two red acrylic wineglass inlays. Laser cut edges are also used to frame the sign.
