Airless Tire With Gear Bearing

I liked both Emmett's gear bearing and tjhowe's parametric airless tire. The next step was to put the bearing in the tire!

The stl uploaded is the original diameter gear bearing with 20mm of airless tire around it. I have shrunk the thickness to 12mm and beefed up the spokes of the tire to 0.8mm so should print as two filament thicknesses.

The OpenSCAD file is just both files from the orignal creators in the same document with a couple of minor edits make it hang together.
As in the cut-out picture of the valve, the main chamber contains a pellet. If the flow comes from above, the pellet rests on a raster and fluid can flow around the pellet. If the flow comes from below, the pellet blocks the tubing on top, going out of the valve. The flow can only go from top to bottom. The direction of flow is indicated on the outside of the valve.

There are several different types of aluminum and ABS models out there. I took my MK8 design, added the pin and tab found on Whpthomas's version, and made a few modifications to get it printable at Shapeways in stainless steel. I know there were possible tolerance issues considering Shapeways gives a very large tolerance. The part I received measured very close (within .15mm), If you have this made, bear in mind the possible tolerance issue.
The only caveat is that the thicker battery means you have to be a little careful about not shorting it out with the LED leads. I bend them to the side a little to make them fit better as you see in the picture.

C. Escher in 3 dimensions. The top is drafted at 60° to create artistic striations of the profile when printed with a standard .010 inch per layer FDM printer. The individual pieces interconnect on a 1 inch hexagonal pattern. I find this to be a good example of the accuracy and ressolution of these printers. The parts are line to line and snap together nicely. X and Y coordinates show the limit of resolution and the Z coordinate shows the comparative coarseness of detail in that axis.
I've had this model for a while, but didn't know what to make of it, when someone suggested a creeper keychain. So here it is.

The picture with the key attached is the first test, I'm getting there, but there is still calibration to do on my Mendel.

The Minecraft/creeper related "cartoon" is best viewed in orginal size, or here: repraprip.blogspot.com/2011/03/coalition-of-obsessions.html
I wanted to print a larger sized Dalek on my TOM, so I sliced up the model, but I didn't want to glue the pieces together.

I've always wanted to connect split up parts with a pin connector, so this is the first time I've tried something like that. I used the PLA Cube Gears as a template for creating my pins and sockets.

The added benefit of using the pins is that each section, including the head can spin.

The models, especially the bottom part, aren't perfect, but I've ran them through netfabbcloud, and they slice and print without any issues.

So I redesigned it from scratch for a larger scale, a bracelet instead of a ring, for something my printer could print.

This piece is held together purely by friction and spring pins - no glue or screws required. It should also be printable on nearly any machine, even if you only have a 120mm bed. Mine was printed in PLA, but ABS should work too.

Parts of the design were based on the involute gear SCAD and Emmet's locking pin design. The parts were all drawin in Autocad - I have no openscad source files to share.

Update - reworked all the files to be easier to assemble and less likely to spring apart when you rotate the rings. Also, I have updated the autocad drawing files used to create the stl files.
