            <title>Snap-locking Sphere Container </title>

            <description><![CDATA[<table border="0"><tr><td valign="top"><a href="http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3272"><img src="http://thingiverse-production.s3.amazonaws.com/renders/15/8a/1c/62/7f/4663609555_e88a401479_o_preview_large.jpg" alt="Snap-locking Sphere Container " class="render"  /></a><br/>Snap-locking Sphere Container </td><td valign="top">After my initial not so successful attempts to create a snapping sphere I had a chance discovery when I tried to put a ball inside the two sphere halves and noticed that although the two parts of the sphere don't hold onto each other they both snap to the slightly smaller ball in the middle...So I went back to the original symmetric Demi-Sphere <a href="http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3068" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">thingiverse.com/thing:3068</a> for the shell but added an inner sphere (without the hard to print top and bottom tips) to hold the two demi-sphere parts together. Snaps like a charm.

            <title>Snap-locking sphere container inspired by Demi-sphere </title>

            <description><![CDATA[<table border="0"><tr><td valign="top"><a href="http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3100"><img src="http://thingiverse-production.s3.amazonaws.com/renders/84/1b/7e/15/85/screenshot1_preview_large.jpg" alt="" class="render"  /></a><br/></td><td valign="top">I loved the Hollow Demi-sphere <a href="http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3068" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">thingiverse.com/thing:3068</a> but I was a little bit disappointed when I found out that it does not snap fit and falls apart by itself. So I remodelled it in OpenSCAD and then changed the angles of the cut out cones to get a snap-closing sphere that does not fall apart by itself. The only drawback compared to the Demi-sphere is that the two parts are not identical anymore, but they are still very good for printing as they are both flat on the bottom (the larger part is also flat on the top).

A friend who works in data recovery often needs to handle many hard drives and have then easily accessible.<br />

So yesterday we had a small CAD'n'lazzzor session and we created this mount for 8 hard drives. It's cut from 2mm HDPE. The orange thing is rubber to prevent the disks from gliding away when you move the mount.
