shower curtains pipe fastener replacement thingy

Oke i hate these shower curtain things because after i while they tend to get loose an so you keep pushing them up until you are fed up with it and buy a new one.

Why do the get loose well the design is wrong if you jam them in the pipe. but that force will fade away after a while.

So i made these they will apply the force from inside out, when the turn the bold the fastener will get pulled in pressing the split up tube part into the wall of the pipe.

I hope this will work better than the ikea one ;-)

printing the conner (bend pieces) is a bit tricky i tried bend.stl en bend2.stl both need support but both work. but i think version3 (to be made) (splitting the bend up in two parts) might be the best option for printing but then you would have to glue them together it could also do with a pair of wall mounts but i did not need then so feel free to make your own ;-)

The hole thing is made with parameters in mind but so it would work with different pipe diameters.

Mine where
outerDiameterPipe = 30
innerDiameterPipe = 26.5
innerRadiusBend = 10

I don't know if anyone needs these but he the world is a big place

youtube.com/watch?v=WKc6qX1RTyY

It generates a openscad file but this time it writes modules so you can use it as a library.

O there is also a online version
protorabbit.nl/flash/polygonrabbit/PolygonRabbit.html

You can now:
move the points :-)
delete points
add point
add points to a closed path(shift drag in add mode)

add modules
delete modules
duplicate modules (handy)

dont forget to set openscad in automatic reload for more fun instant update

Please let me know what you think of it
Not really a thing ;-). What i do here is generate scad files. I was playing with that thought for a while now. Because its a bit strange. I use one programming language (action-script 3.0 and flex in my case) to generate the other.

In this case for the polygon method within openscad witch is powerfull but hard to read. So a made the visual helper for generation polygon call with a bit of extrusion

Weird but it works what do you think mad or mad science ;)

The small air app does not have any undo functionality and you can only draw on a grid, it was just to test something maybe i will add stuff to it ? should i ?

Update 13 Aug 2011:
Still working on it but not ready for its first release :-(
Some hints
- Layers (one layer is one openscad module) each layer its own color
- Adding and Deleting of Points and of course Moving points Splitting of segments
- Curves (Maybe)
- Save files (some json or xml) so you can save your work
- Web based and AIR app
- Etc Etc ;-)

I am making a head scanner and will add the bits and pieces to this thing while i am making it. Things will change!!!

This thing will have an camera mounted to it and will drive around the object that I want to scan (a head for example :) . A a am using a Bühler motor to drive it but maybe i will use a stepper instead. Thats why i made it this way so i could slide different type of motor holders in my setup.

The print of the motor holder (part2_closed.stl) took 2 hours to print and has to bridge a insane gap (do not try this without a stepper extruder ;-)

I added the slide in holder as separate stl's because the may be of use to someone (also included as scad files in the archive.zip)

To be continued ....
So he asked me if i could print a box in a shape of a molar.

Aha a challenge !!

So first a made something out of playdoh and scanned parts of that with my 3d scanner :-)

Meshed and simplified them in meshlab

Put it together with blender

And then used OpenScad to make a box out of it pffff ;-)

It looks fun so print it (id did try to print the molar without a base but that is a bit tricky)

Laser mount version 2

The solution was simple just print a hole through the holder. leaving enough roam for the bolt head or screw. Then you easily bolt it to whatever you like.

This version has a hole for a diameter of 12 mm laser but the hole is a bit bigger now so it fits a bit better

I am using the M3 nuts and bolds from my makerbot set btw.

Also include a image of my old laser mount having a 3d printer makes my life soo much better. O and and a shot of my primitive build of a 3d scanner with the new mount ;-).

Laser mount

I needed a laser mount for a line laser (building a 3d laser scanner). This laser can be focused but for that you need to be able to move the hole thing and the focus ring.
That's why a added the nut and bold hole at the top of the thing.

I plan to add more stuff to it but it is usable as it is

Update 2011-01-22:
I wanted to be able to turn the laser when its mounted so a made a cap for it that will slide over the top op the mount. I also made an version that will mount nicely on my meccano. With a little help from this great lib thingiverse.com/thing:2873 by Erik thingiverse.com/Erik

The caps work but i am not really happy with them. The thing is getting to big and i also need to put a bolt in the side of the cap to keep it in its position (not showing on the foto's).

But i though i would share them anyway

I will makeing a new small mount that will be even more simpler ;-)
