In the interest of putting off our real work around oomlout we set ourselves a simple challenge, make a chair. What ensued a day (well we're a bit disappointed as it took closer to half a day but we digress) where we went from figuring out what size a chair should be through computer drawings, cnc cutting and finally assembly.

My approach with the SKP or KMZ files is to work with them in the free version of sketchup and then use my trial version of sketchup pro to export them. Because I have 8 hours of trial time on the pro and it only takes a minute to export them, that works for me.

If someone wants to create a derivative and go in and make the book go all the way down to her hip, that would help make it so that it wouldn't start printing in mid air.

got me thinking. Scaling is RIDICULOUSLY easy with Blender -- and then printing out the new part is just as easy as the previously sized part. So why not make a part that benefited from this scalability?

So, I was thinking, there are all kinds of bottles out there. And adding a whistle to the top will basically form a resonance chamber of that bottle's note. Can anybody say Jug Band?

Then I was scanned and I have been trapped inside an STL file for A LONG TIME. Thankfully, Martin Bauer let me out of this file and he has given me his name and I look like him, but I am small.

I can live in your house too, that is the beauty of being converted into an STL file, if you have a 3D printer like the MakerBot, then you can give me a whole extra life. It is like when you hit that secret box in Mario Bros and get all the free lives you want.

Please, print me out on your 3D printer, take pictures of me, make me clothes... really, it can be cold being this small with the whole surface area to volume issue.

Also, if you print me out furniture, that would be nice. I would use it.
I decided to start out with some nice thick frames inspired primarily by Cory Doctorow and Bre Pettis, though I have plans for a lot more styles and shapes.

As for practicality...
I honestly wasn't expecting these to be comfortable but they actually are. They're really light and after a while I forget I'm even wearing them. I can even wear them over my normal glasses.
PLUS major geek bonus points for wearing GLASSES YOU PRINTED YOURSELF.
If you know what this is, you know that they're a real pain to find, and expensive when found. They're expensive because it's a niche item, not because it's terribly complicated or hard to produce -- an excellent candidate for home replication.

Unlike commercial omniwheels, this comes with a Futaba-style servo mount already in place -- it's designed to be screwed directly to the servo. If this isn't your style, replace the object named "Servo Collar" in the Blender file with the mount of your choice.

v1.1 Update: Based on input from Simon Kirkby, I've enlarged the centers of the roller wheels and changed the axle mounts, which no longer need drilling.
