UPDATE: 3D file of the marker included so you can print and mount it directly on the right position.
Since we use special techniques [occlusion] the position is important to really simulate the augmented part 'inside' the Ultmaker.

The trick is displacement mappings and a lot of persistence, but then you can create the most beautiful objects.

This is an analog heated bed for an Ultimaker [or every other 3D printer]. No extra hardware and electronics needed. Heated beds allow the user to print without warping the object. PLA doesn't warp that much, but ABS is known for warping.
One candle [waxiine lichtje] can bring the aluminium 3mm plate to 50 degrees. A double candle can go up to 60 degrees. I haven't tried a tripple candle. Other possibilities are a oil-lamp or a spirit burner[?!]
[Maybe with some electronics so you can change the flame power with a servo.]

Vase with ear printed on a ultimaker in 15 minutes and 38 seconds. First tries with 'mesh mixer' by autodesk...

Ah well... not really glass... not real diamonds, but it has a diamond look... sort of Swarovski-style...

More or less by accident, but i am surprised how good you can control the irregularity so it gets regular again.

This is only the very first test...

This alphabet i made for the Cinekid festival [childrens movie festival in NL] last year. Children could choose their favorite letter and print it on a Ultimaker. some took 5 minutes 43 seconds, others 2 minute 19 secondes.

Even the Dutch royal family liked it....

Not really new design, but a scaled in z version of the low res hi quality vase. These are the first prints on the 90cm high ultimaker at protospace with a 0,8mm nozzle.

Updated and improved some things to better attach to the ultimaker. Works now with 100ml syringes. Still uses the filament for 'driving' the syringe. Also new are the end stop enlargers so the endstops still work with the syringe attached.
The concept is more or less the other way round. The filament pulls the syringe and squeeze the material out.

A syringe extruder without any extra hardware. No extra motors, no extra anyhing from the hardware store! oh, yes, you need a washer or what i use now: a hose coupling and of course, you need syringes...
