I was a little unsure the original would stick to my bed as the first layer is quite sparse, so I added a base. I also shrunk it to 50% so it would fit in my Z axis.

Probably not used very much these days, but I had a pile of 9-pin D-Subminiature connectors and decided to use them to hook up the stepper motors on my experimental Reprap.

The gears are from mraiser's original (thing:9414), with a modified set of holder parts from tbuser (thing:9454) to make them thinner.

I include the (hacked up) openscad file, but would recommend looking at MakerBlock's cleaned up version (thing:9460).

A small foot that can clip onto the 6mm bars of a Mini-Mendel/Huxley RepRap printer.

UPDATE 5.6.11: I should warn that I created these feet before constructing the Z axis, and it may be the case that these feet are too short with all the gears and mechanisms under the Z rods. At the moment there are a few millimeters clearance, but I have not yet installed the motors or Z rods completely. I will update this description once I complete the build.

UPDATE 11.6.11: If the feet are placed on the lowermost bar (front and back) then there is plenty of room for the Z axis. I've attached some photos showing this.

I wanted some kind of gear mechanism toy thing, and whilst the original calling card was a good start I wanted less calling card and more gear visibility.

I used Sketchup to hack the original STL files into something that works. I have uploaded them in case people want to modify them - but beware, they're not pretty!
