I love this place!
What I put up here is for the world, It is open source design at its best! I strive to contribute to something bigger than myself and have some fun along the way.
A little about me. I make stuff, lots of stuff. I have been a carpenter and a welder/fabricator/sheet metal worker/machinist by trade for many years as well as a professional bicycle mechanic. Art and design are my primary interests, but I love the tools that come with them even more. I also paint, draw, sculpt and enjoy photography and photo manipulation. I have had works published in text books and medical journals as well as art shows.
Now I jump into this digital realm of making something from nothing. As a child I would dream of a toy and consciously try to wake up with it in hand but was always so disappointed when it wasn't there. This technology allows for a similar process to actually happen. Now I go from an image in my head to a finished object, sometimes while I sleep so I have come full circle...sort of.
One of my biggest passions is Lego, I have collected it my entire life. I was interviewed for TV about my collection, the link is bellow. It is an excellent tool for quick concept, mechanical modelling and making fun art stuff.
I study Industrial design and work at the Ontario College of Art and Design University. I plan on having a future in rapid prototyping in some respect and my Makerbot is the stepping stone. It is turning out to be more than expected with every print! G-code, infill and feed rates are all languages I am learning and right now failed prints teach me more than successful ones. (though the successful ones are preferred).
As I crawl out from under my analogue rock, I am looking to the future and believe I am looking it square in the face!
