Hey! This thing is still a Work in Progress.
Files, instructions, and other stuff might change!
Wind Turbine Blades
Description
This is the blade of a small Vertical Axis Wind Turbine.
It is designed to be stacked in sets of 2+.
It is a helical Darrieus constant torque design. It is not self starting. The airfoil is a NACA 0015 with zero angle of attack.
Still needs a stand and end cap.
There is a high and low polygon model if you are in to that sort of thing.

This is a great model! Since it's not self starting, how do you intend to use it? Can you combine it with a Savonius turbine?

I'm mostly planning on using it as a desk model so I hadn't given it too much thought.
Maybe a short Savonius add-on would allow it to self start, but there would be a drag penalty at operating speeds.
Now if you could design a one-way torque coupling to a small Savonius, so it could spin freely if it is moving faster...

this isn't bad, I've been working on a comparable VAWT here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thi...
