Micro-Adjustable Prusa Mendel Z-endstop
Description
While getting my z height correct and playing around with different bed materials, I found myself constantly adjusting the z endstop. If I tried to leave it loose enough to move, it didn't stay in place, and if it was too tight I couldn't move it.
I needed to be able to adjust it very small amounts to get the z-height just right to get a nice first layer that wasn't too hard to peel off, but still stuck.
This minor improvement does the trick.

Instructions
Materials: a longish bolt, a spring, and a nut. The longer the bolt the more adjustment room you'll have, but you really don't need more than 1 1/2"-2".
Drill a hole somewhat larger than the bolt diameter in x-carriage just above mechanical endstop lever arm.
Insert screw though spring from the top, and nut on the bottom.
Coarsely get mechanical end-stop into position, adjust bolt down until it's near the lever arm.
Now you can get the nozzle nearly above the bed (I was told 1/2x the filament diameter), then screw the bolt down until it just triggers the end-stop.
Tighten the end-stop well, you won't need to move it again.
Enjoy being able to micro-adjust your z-endstop height.
This would be fairy easy to incorporate in the carriage files directly, with a hole for the nut. Without something to hold the nut, you may need to apply pressure to it as you turn the screw, or you can glue the nut into place.
