well, It is something of a guilty pleasure.
I agree there are some "timely and timeless themes".
It has some really thought provoking imagery.

I made a model of the idol, so it made an impression on me.
Glad you liked the model and movie.

It's an EXCELLENT movie! I saw it in the theatre on its release (came out at the same time as The Exorcist so was completely overlooked), I own it on disk and have seen it numerous times. Deals with some timely and timeless themes, has great visuals and great costumes, and the script and acting are fine. Does drag on just a bit prior to the climax (the tabernacle sequence) but for the most part it's a sci-fi classic imho. Thank you for posting this :)
