I added these hearts to the cube to make it easier to paint.

The girlfriend painted the one i printed, came out very well :)

Good work, it came out great!!

Created my profile just to thank you for this excellent model. I've printed two with my ToM with a MK6+ 3mm and they came out great. I've only just gotten my Makerbot assembled and working and can't wait to make more! Thanks kindly!

Wow, thanks!! All I really did was add the hearts, but I'm glad you like it :). Your prints look great!! I've been thinking about building a rep-rap myself.. building up to it..

Happy printing!!

How do you print this with the overhang problem?

Just enable support in Skeinforge. Works like a champ.

Hey, This was printed on the UP! (www.pp3dp.com); the proprietary software generates support structure for me. With the right settings, and the right orientation, it handles most overhangs without a problem.

is it possible to make this hollowed out? Looks like a great print, just be nice to have it take less plastic to make.

cyborg,

Probably not, as the internal structure kinda requires it. However, you can set up Skeinforge (via RepG) to print using a honeycomb-like lattice structure. This makes for stronger prints without a whole lot of plastic use.

Awesome print. Hoping to get my Cupcake to that accuracy some day :)

Thanks! Yeah, the UP! has some pretty phenomenal accuracy.. definitely one of the draws of the machine. Have you tried this on your Cupcake?
