And decided to recreate it as a customizer.
The default settings and the attached STLs are configured to use the magnets that you can take out of broken smart extruders.

Wow, I love this idea! Ott3rman may be right, springs may accomplish the same task. But maglev sounds way cooler! ;)
Glad you like it, I have my MakeBot Mini and a Record player floating on these feet and they work pretty well, But i agree this is definitely a more of a conversation stater/ showing off than practical. Especially for heavy objects.
But I think someone out there on the internet has to explore whether springs or magnets are better for sound damping since they have two different force equations:
Magnets F={{u*Q1 Q2}/{4\pi r^2}}
Springs F= k/X
notice that magnetic force is exponential and spring force is linear. Not saying mine is better at all just want someone out there to "do the science"
If you add a copper or aluminum plate between the magnets (if they will fit) it'll add actual damping to side to side motion. Less damping to up and down motion. Neither springs nor floating on magnets alone will add damping, just isolation. (Not trying to be pedantic about wording, just clarifying my point)
That sounds really cool, how thick does the plate have to be? Could a few folded up layers of aluminum foil cut into a circle here help or does it need to be thicker than that?
I love the Idea, but it seems a bit over engineered to use magnet when springs do the same work for a fraction of the cost and zero pinch-danger.
I made this for my K8200, and believe me, it works plenty. I'ts like the printer is floating.
I probably need some friggin huge magnets for my printer, is weighs an absolute ton.

try this website, they have some really frigging huge magnets. (Not responsible for any loss of fingers between pinched magnets)
Looks ok , Im about to print it ... But I tried putting in parameters and I found out that you probably put radius instead of Diameter. Radius is just half of diameter. So If I have 8 mm magnet radius would be 4 . Please correct it . But good job. I like it.
the units should be in radius, the radius of the magnet hole will equal 2(magent_radius+magnet_fudge_factor) so if you put in 4 and 0.1 for radius and fudge_factor the diameter of the final hole will be 8.2 if you are seeing any other behavior let me know and i can try to find out why.
