Summary

Replacement lens cap for an SLR camera (the design is based on a Canon lens cap). The cap is designed to fit on a lens with an inside diameter of 51mm.

If you what a different size then just measure the inside diameter of your camera & let me know - I'll upload a model of that size here. I created a parametric model in Solid Works so I just need to change one variable to generate a different size lens.

The SW files are on GrabCAD if you'd like a copy.

Instructions

I printed the cap section at 0.2mm, and the inside part at 0.15mm - but I'm sure you could print successfully at a lower resolution and do a little trimming with a craft knife.

The tolerances are really small on this design so you'll probably need to do a little sanding with a fine file or sandpaper to get the inner ring in place.

Hey Simonx, great cap. could you upload a 58mm... all the best

Hey Simonx, great cap. could you upload a 58mm... all the best, D

Hi simonx, I need a 55mm and a 67mm design. Could you provide me with those? I on a mac so I can't run SW. I can send you a photo of them when they're done. I think they'll go nicely with my 3D printed focus gears :)

Hi simonx,

Would you please be able to post a 58mm model in an stl. file for my Canon EOS700d? This would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Could you create the .stl's for 58mm? Would be much appreciated. Best!

So that was a tighter fit than I expected - the locking ring wasn't required. likely should just scale it by like 1.40 to make a 72mm version

You could scale it by x1.4117 to make the ~72mm lens cap. Testing it and should reply again if this is perfectly useful.

Can you create a model for 72mm lens? thanks!

mine is 55mm but i have printed before i realized that fact xD .... BTW Cool design

Need for 62mm.. pls

need it for 58mm and 77 lens... pls upload

I had to print this out several times, 3 to be exact, of course I needed a 43mm for a smaller lens. I resized it using a 43mm ring created in Max and importing into Makerware and resizing to it. Things to consider is that the pieces are very close to each other which caused my print to have the two parts meld together at the push buttons so it was useless. I ended up resizing the center piece smaller, making sure no parts overlapped which is hard to visualize in Makerware but this finally worked.

Hello, I would appreciate it if you could upload a 46mm version of this cover for my brother in law ! looks very cool.

How about 52mm for Nikon and Lumix? and 58mm for (big) Nikon?

Possible to upload a more hi res modell?

Hey, Iwould like a 46mm and a 600mm, if it's possible. Tks.

Hi, I could use a 40 mm and a 57 mm version of this lens cap. The design looks really good.
