I just used some left over 10mm threaded rod and a piece of 8mm smooth rod. It works great.

I used 2 pieces of M10 threaded rod (16cm each) and about 40cm of 8mm smooth rod.

With the spools being mounted so high, is there any tendency for them to rock with movement of the bed?
