United States Electoral Vote Map by TheNewHobbyist Sep 2, 2011

Featured Thing!

Description

This is a 3D scale replica of the United States, the state height corresponds to the number of electoral votes each state controls in a presidential election. I thought it could be a fun visual tool for learning about U.S. politics.

Also included in this thing is a flat 2D Sketchup map of the U.S. suitable for resizing, extruding, scaling, puzzle making, you name it!

More about this project in my blog post here: http://www.thenewhobbyist.com/2011/09/3d-printing-for-the-classroom/

It worked a treat thanks!!!!!!!
I'd try cleaning the model through Netfabb or Netfabb Cloud and see if that fixes it for you.

yeah i got that as soon as i posted the comment thanks
You should do another based on electoral college votes per capita.
Average population density might also be interesting.
this is awesome.

if they were 'hollow', like cups, they could be filled with juice and people could pour them out and compare volumes.
Too bad some states are too small for the actual numbers of electoral college votes to be bossed.
Yeah I thought about that when putting it together, numbers of votes or the two letter state abbreviation would be cool to see. I suppose you could print this at a larger scale to pull that off though.
