Description

This is a derivative of my original train thingiverse.com/thing:11101 This version has wheels that work on the standard wood tracks that are a fairly common kids toy. There is also a 3D printer version of these available here: thingiverse.com/thing:8805

This version also accepts Legos and Mega Blocks. You can just snap them onto the top and build whatever you want.

Instructions

See detailed description with: thingiverse.com/thing:11101

The wheels for this train also work in my original train above.

It was not a fault of the design at all. I tightened the plunger (again) after googling similar print issues. Our trains have wheels! And the kids go wild!!! (Crowd cheering in the background, confetti thrown...)

Not sure if this helps, but I always printed these on a raft because otherwise the axle would start flexing too much as it got taller. You might want to try and see if the wheel from the train this was derived from prints. I'm not sure what else could be the issue.

The trains print perfectly every time. To scale and everything. But I can't get the post on the wheel to build. I've tried through MakerWare in both medium and high build mode and also connected to a laptop using replicatorG. Tried different filament... Every time it gets about a quarter of the way up the post and then stops printing properly. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance! My students are going wild over it!

I like it :) Lego snapped on perfectly first try on 100% scale

I have to have that Lego train for my boys!! Are you going to sell any? I have the tracks, need the trains!! :*

Cool concept. My printer prints the top a bit too large, so it won't fit a lego brick. I guess I haven't calibrated it correctly..

It fits very nicely off my Makerbot, but the tollerance is pretty tight. You could try scaling it by like .98% and see if that worked for you.
