Utah Teapot (teaproof, printable version) by vik Oct 25, 2009

Description

This is my hack at the Utah teapot, fiddled so that it will actually print on a RepRap with no support material. I had to fill in the inside of the lid to do this, and the inside of the top of the teapot gets a bit gnarly as I increased the wall thickness there in a rather rustic manner. I also took a few liberties with the line of the spout and managed to beat the overhang problem in the end.

Yes, the PLA is food-safe. It is even biocompatible! http://diamondage.co.nz/pla.ht...

very cool. but is it safe to drink out of this type of plastic?

if made with ABS just dip it in acetone multiple times.. that will render it tea-proof and make a glossy finish

Hi Vik, COOL, your the first to dare to print my Utah version. Thanks for doing the no-support-needed version. When i have time again I'll give a shot at the original with support.

This teapot is now on my list of things to print. Actually now that I think about it everything that Vik comes up with is on that list I should have my bot up and running soon enough.
