Description

I wasn't planning on doing this but since a lot of people asked for it, here it is :) Just don't be mad when there's a hulky bird roaming your garden with a sword in it's claw :P

Took me quite some figuring out to get it in pieces. Zbrush isn't that when it comes to exact flat surfaces so I hope this will be ok, it looks to me at least. It's meant to stand on a surface, as I made a little ground plate for it. Check the instructions for me info.

I'm not a designer, more of an artist so that will be my excuse :P
As always, pictures are welcome and comments ofcourse too ;-) Enjoy!

Looks awesome, I'm new to 3d printing so sorry for this basic question. The main Castile front, does that print in the orientation supplied, seems like it would need a lot os support or should it be rotated so it builds upright in the correct orientation. Any printing tips would be helpful, trying this on the XYZ De Vinci
Hello Fabrice, my French is just as good as your English, so no problem ;-) If you want to know if I made the castle with a scanner? I don't have a scanner. I made the castle in Zbrush and after that I made modifications to it to be used as a birdhouse.

As said, made this in pieces to be composed after printing. it SHOULD fit all together but it all depends a bit on the resolution you're printing I guess. I did leave a bit of room here and there so when you fit it together it should be easier.

The door can be inserted at the front. You can shove the backplate in and/or glue it. The roof can be put on top of it and so are the towers. Glue at will :)

I made the base with a kind of indentions as where the rocks/front will rest on. I did this because that particular pieces wasn't really flat and I couldn't cut it up more. Also the backplate needed to be put in and rest upon something.

This should be printable with ease. Check scaling if you do so :) All pieces are scaled as to fit with oneanother. Did checking in Netfabb.

It is cool. But it might scare the birds away!
i would have used the eyes of the skull as Birdhouse-entrance!
the extra hole below makes it look quite strange.
well, I could've done that indeed, I also was thinking of using the eye-sockets as feedingtrays :) The thing is, I decided to do it like this because the doorway is the normal entrance. I also used the size of the hole since that's what attracts the birds also, the european sparrow in this case. I admit, I should've put maybe a bit more detail around the hole/doorway, building it up with rocks or something to have it integrated with the rest. Thanks for the criticism ;-) Can't change anything anymore now ;-)
You win the internet (or at least Thingiverse). This is amazing!
Hah this is way too cool.
Would that make the squirrel, Orco? This is just freeken great DiMarzio. To a fellow Zbrush user I had to say it. Keep the great work flowing ;)
Thats the most epic birdhouse iv seen!!!!!!
Ha, the only reason I would use this would be to get a hulky bird to roam my garden with a sword in it's claw. Awesome stuff.
