This is a copy of emmett's bearing retainer modified to make the plunger and the stepper shaft visible. I also added some standoffs under the screw holes.

It's a good idea to use one of these retainers. I had an extruder taken out because that bearing fell out and shorted out the electronics. Makerbot really should make that a stock item or change the design to prevent the bearing from working its way out.
