Self Replicating Device Warning Sign by wizard23 Nov 4, 2009

Description

I found the warning sign in a blog post about future warning signs lifeboat.com/ex/warning.signs.for.tomorrow and immediately knew that I needed such a sign for my Makerbot.

Because the original pictures are very low-res the auto vectorizing did not work out too well so I redrew it as a dxf using a stencil font.

Argh, you beat me uploading this! (Good job actually, I'll post mine)
I made a version a while ago on the school's laser for my club's repstrap using inkscape to vectorize the individual parts one by one.

Be careful there: Vinyl is actually just PVC - one of the few materials you should NOT laser since this produces chlorine gas (used in WW1 to etch away the lungs of the enemies)

But the basic idea is good. take some 2 layered material and engrave away the top.

You could even take Black acrylic and lay yellow vinyl tape over it then laser the design and peel off unwanted portions. :) Sweet!
