Description

This is an EVA Extruder based on a wade plastic extruder and that use a hot glue gun heater and his 12mm diameter stick (8mm on study).

It fits instead of a wade extruder on a prusa mendel.

With this I could extrude soft part made of EVA.

This design is still on modification, stay tuned.

BE CAREFULL : the hot gun heater is plugged on 220V, prefer using your hot-end heater/controller block.

Instructions

Print the extruder, the idler and the supporting plate.

open and cut a cheap 12mm glue gun body made of nylon.

drill an tape the hotend to be able to put a brass M6 drilled thread.

put an hot-end nozzle on it.

assemble everything and run.

Awesome! I've been wanting to try using glue gun glue as a support material. This is reminding me to get off my butt and try it.

What temperature are you running your extruder at?

I have no Idea... I let the 220V heater of the glue gun...

Love it! My first 'extruder' was a motor-fed hot glue gun for injecting plaster molds to make flexible pieces. I ended up designing a feed mechanism for the shorter mini glue sticks because I could never get good results from the longer ones. Might be time to dust that off....

Nice!

Can you put some more photos and perhaps - video?

What is the resolution you'r getting with it?

I'll put photos and videos soon.

I first tried with a 0.5mm nozzle, then a 0.8mm which was to big, the eva was leaking by himself without the help of the extruder, so I went back to 0.5mm which seems to work more or less.

I'll try with a 0.3mm, but you have to wait longer and run slower, because the eva has not the time to become soft enough.

EVA is a weird raw material...

Very slick!

Very clever design! :)

cool

you should make the contour of top and bottom follow the curve of the walls.
