Dial gauge clip

Description

This is a spring loaded clip to hold a dial gauge firmly in place when levelling the platform on a Thing-o-matic with a mk 6+ stepstruder.

The gauge bolts to the clip.

The width of the clip, as printed, is 75 mm, so it has to be squeezed to clip into the 70 mm gap that the heated nozzle fits in. The compression keeps the clip secure. This was printed at 50 % infill, it may be that less dense infills will give less spring tension.

I would recommend using this with the power off, to avoid damage.

Thanks! I was going to design something that involved removing the extruder to mount the gauge but this is so much better. Need to remove the spare rod end-caps that I installed when I built by bot back in December 2010 as they restrict the Y-axis travel meaning I can't proble the back of the platform, not an issue normally as the extruder is futher back and can reach it but this lies further forward.

This is a great and simple design..works great. As everyone else i was using a clamp with my dial indicator....this now literally takes seconds to set up

This is excellent! I was using a dial indicator with a magnetic clamp set but this is much easier.

I may modify it to bring it forward slightly as the shaft doesn't have much clearance from the bottom of the fan with a Mk 7 extruder. :)

This also fits into the Cupcake Z Stage, thanks to the springy design. Thanks for sharing this thing!

This is a very useful thing for anyone who owns a MakerBot Thing-O-Matic. Thanks for sharing this. :)

hahah I ordered a digital dial indicator to do the same few weeks ago! nice one

the indicator arrived today but they are not standard :(

Very nice, I was just going to rig something up to make this work. Good timing.

I want to buy a dial indicator. Good stuff!
