Arduino Uno Protection Plate Box by RyGuy Nov 24, 2011

Description

Need a secure Uno/Ethernet Shield plate and box combo that will keep assets safe during a fall and allow for under and over plate wire runs to your pins?

If so, print this puppy!

Its verry hard to make it fit, it needs some rounded corners and a litle more margins
Thanks man! I just jumped into an Ethernet shield and decided I needed to upgrade the box. Speaking of the Ethernet shield, check out my crummy project I used to test out WAN egress to my Uno as well as logging to the SD card: mega.dlinkddns.com:2222/

Arduino on!
Sir you rock! I am seeing a double rainbow here! I kept having issues with the top of my box trying to cut out an access hole for the LCD display I want to mount. I had thrown the towel in on it but with your other fine work for the ethernet shield I am now down to just customizing it for that display! Thanks!

Instructions

I ended up with a thick post base plate and box setup with an integrated Uno locking clip. I created the attached stl files from the also attached SketchUp file so you can feel free to mod. Also, if you haven't tried Google SketchUp for 3D modeling it is pretty nice (and free) you just need to add an stl export plugin ( (skp_to_dxf.rb) http://www.guitar-list.com/download-software/convert-sketchup-skp-files-dxf-or-stl ) and then export in mm for Gcode creation.

All units pictured were printed via: MK6+ 1.75mm filament .4 nozzle ABP with aluminum plate topper and titanium belt covered in kapton

Print the plate for sure, then decide if you need one of the tops depending on your setup.

I have been toying around with this design and am wondering if you already made a variant for the piggy-back network arduino board? Also am working on modifying it to accept a LCD dispaly in the lid.
Check thingiverse.com/thing:13931 again, I've beefed up the plate and box for the new R3 board version as well as added a topper for the Ethernet shield! Let me know what you think.

I like where your going. I haven't visited my box design in a while. I was looking at branding the top with the Arduino logo but never got around to it... What LCD model do you have on tap currently? I have two 16x2 IM161 Microtivity units. How would you speck the mount surface of the lid to adapt multiple 16x2 boards? Here is a pic of my LCD mounted to an Arduino Bluetooth tank I built a while back:
Currently have a very large screen at 25x69mm that came in a kit and was just going to work with that. I have made my adjustments and had time to print the lower half with success and will be printing the upper tonight for a test fit. If all goes well I will post my bastardized version of your great item later. Thanks for posting the skp file! Also kudos on that tank! Just started working with arduinos and am finding them to be amazing. My box and first board are building me a water flow meter and temperature sensors.
Awesome!

Post that puppy up!

Add details to your design cuz I'm interested in what your working with. I have an RFID reader/cards, a ping sensor, temp probe and Bluetooth adapter as well as a motor shield that I keep building and tearing apart for different tests.
Nice. My Uno and BBB will get one. Thanks!

Happy Turkey Day! - (Thanksgiving for all the great things we get to experience and play with...) :-D
