Description

Not much to say; print it and stick it on your bot. Do we need a PLA inside or a PVA inside??

STL, SketchUp file and Paint.NET files attached for your convenience and regurgitation.

Also added the actual font I used (non copyrighted version): Gkreator_Inside_Beta1.zip as requested

This was printed and used on:

TOM # 4890
MK6+
1.75mm
.4 nozzle
ABP with aluminum plate topper and titanium belt covered in kapton

See thingiverse.com/thing:14120 for the PLA version!

Instructions

After creating my png image I used an uber tight ruby script for SketchUp: forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=33445 that takes your imported raster png and converts it to actual shape data! If you use SU you gotta try it out! I attached the tool suite to this thing "SKMtools20110225.zip" just dump it into your plugins folder in SU and follow the directions from the above URL!

Oh, and for those making solids in SketchUp you really need the ruby script called "Solid Inspector". It makes chasing manifold issues 200 times easier in SU! Pick it up here: forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=30504

This is Awesome!
Thankyou for a great post!
On the UP printer I paused the print when it just started the writing and changed to the orange - looks great :)

Nice! Thanks. Got my new sign hanging on the bot now. :-D

Question - before I begin the search - How did you get the letters to fill in solid. I've a Makerbot TOM.

1st I designed my png image in Paint.NET using the text tool in a separate layer

2nd I imported that png image into SketchUp using the "ImageTrimmer" tool that is included with the attached zip file called "SKMtools20110225.zip"; follow the directions here: orums.sketchucation.com/viewto...

3rd I exploded the group that was created from the image

4th I used SketchUp's push tool to individually raise each shape to desired height

excellent ^^ (yes need pla too !)

Cook'n the PLA up now guys!

PLA pleas :)

Seconded. Also what font did you use for the logo? Could you include a source file for the png? (i.e. text editable not an actual png) Great job.

Hmm, this could also make a nice stamp... (level the "swirl" and font then attach a handle and dip in ink)
