Talisman Holder, i.e. Septagon Box and Lid by OSU_FYE Dec 15, 2009

Description

Septagon box 20 mm per side, 25 mm deep. Why a septagon? Well, partially because the wikipedia says, "is not constructible with compass and straightedge but it is constructible with a Makerbot." Okay, I added the Makerbot part. Anyway it was fun, and I'm going to store my four leaf clover inside this seven sided box and set it next to the Makerbot during every build -- at least until I learn more about Skeinforge.

Oops... gotta divide by extrusion thickness... I've been using 0.5... so will use 70 for jitter.

Nice box. I'll make one.
I've been playing with the jitter setting while printing the twisted boxes.
As I interpret it, it's the ratio of start position movement to extrusion thickness... and so the default values are effectively negligible... a value around 20-30 has been sorting the problem out for me with the twisted boxes...
I'm guessing it will wrap - so a value near the perimeter length wont be much good... perhaps 1/4 of the perimeter might be a good bet... 7x20/4=35... I will use this when I print and report back (a few days, hopefully).

Instructions

* head zeroed at .022 in. above build plate (thickness of construction cardboard).
* Speed settings:
chk,chk,1,1,1.3,26,255,8,1,1,1,55
Might try 22 instead of 26 next time.
* Raft settings:
.55,1.5,1,.375,0,.1,.5,.8,1,.8,.5,2,5,1,1,no,60,2,2,0,0,0,230,230,230,230,220,220.
Next run I'm setting the second raft layer to 230. You can see the first raft layer stayed put using .55, but the second layer lifted a bit.
* jitter=2 still left a line along the side, but I can't find an allowed jitter range.
