Summary

THIS DESIGN HAS BEEN MOVED TO YOUMAGINE:

Reasons:

This is a foldable shoulder rig with controls for audio on the left handle and controls for focus and start/stop recording (or shutter for photos) on the right handle.
You can fold everything up and it will fit nicely into a bag.
With the controls on the handles, you don't have to move your hands away from the handles for the most common tasks.
This you are faster to react and the camera stays steady in the beginning and end of a shot as your hands are on the handles at these times and don't move to/from the camera.

Instructions

  1. get this cheap, chinese copy of a shoulder rig http://www.dealextreme.com/p/multi-function-shoulder-rig-for-dslr-cameras-65789?r=78675737

  2. get 3 of these http://www.dealextreme.com/p/bicycle-bike-handlebar-mount-for-camera-black-69116?r=78675737 and cut the head of the bolts to create adapter to mount 1/4" equipment to the attachment points

  3. the electronics of the righ handle depend on your camera but are usually trivial. Buttons are for focus and shutter/video-recording

  4. the left handle is for the RC04 remote control of the popular Zoom H4n audio recorder

  5. attach the braces to the handles while they are still hot of the printer. This makes it easier.

  6. use this http://marcuswolschon.blogspot.com/2011/11/www.dealextreme.com/p/360-swivel-flash-stand-bracket-umbrella-holder-c-type-33540?r=78675737 or this http://www.dealextreme.com/p/articulating-magic-arm-for-camera-106066?r=78675737 if you want to mount a long shotgun microphont to the shoulder-joint.

  7. TODO: a detachable front-support to rest the weight on your gelt for longer shots is comming soon. Probably tomorrow.
