Description
This is a catch bucket where the 3D printer may purge any old plastic and then clean itself. Of note is also the optical interrupt that is attached to the bucket. The intention is that this would allow the machine to be better able to detect nozzle jams and keep the enclosure clean.

Current designs probably require this to be mounted on the end of the makerbot build table. (Ideally you would do this with bucket hanging off the back of the table so you don't loose to much build envelop, but I don't know if you could pull this off without causing collisions.
Do note, the attached models are for a custom 3D printer that differs from the Cupcake frame, but conceptually provides some useful ideas for keeping any 3D printer running well.
