Loft Bed Cup Holder by Stefan Jan 7, 2010

Description

We got a cool loft bed from Ikea for my son. He couldn't reach his water bottle from his night stand, so I made a cup holder that hooks onto his loft bed.

This is cool, but my bed's headboard has built in cupholders on the armrest. :P

True, but those little ledges look like they'll break off easily (depending of the material of course).

Perhaps, but if I put a slot through the tongue in the bottom plate then there would be very little material left on each side. Capturing it from the outside leaves the tongue stronger. All the outer braces do is keep the side plates tight to the bottom and front.

Instructions

Cut the parts from 3/16" sheet. I used a scroll saw to cut some cheap plywood from the home center, but a laser and acrylic would look much nicer.

Cut out the parts, insert Tab A into Slot B... etc.
No glue or fasteners are required. The design locks together in assembly

Wouldn't those outer braces work better if they went through the bottom plate instead of bracing them from outside?
