Description
This is a filament guide and Dust Guard for the Thing-O-Matic. I jut finished making a spindle for the Thing-O-Matic which left me with a need for a filament guide, but I also wanted a dust Guard, so I combined the two things into one part. This part was design to fit on either the front or rear top of the Thing-O-Matic. Enjoy.
Instructions
1. Print both sides of the part. IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure your platform is properly calibrated as this part takes up almost the entire platform.
2. Remove the qty.4 semi-circular support section from the ID of the two parts.
3. Trim a supple sponge to roughly 25 mm in Diameter.
4. Cut a small slit in the sponge to feed the filament through.
5. using a flat surface and sandpaper, lightly sand the flat surfaces of the two parts.
6. Using a paper towel and alcohol remove any sanding debris and oils from the sanded surfaces of the parts.
7. Glue the two halves together using super glue. Secure while drying using small hobby clamps.
8. Using a razor and sandpaper clean any excess glue from the part edges.
9. Compress the sponge to force into the opening of the part. Use a then tool to reposition the sponge to the correct orientation.
10. Install on the Thing-O-Matic Top Rear or front. IMPORTANT NOTE: THE hooked end of the part should not be install on the rear vertical surface as it may interfer and damage the z-axis.
11. Run the filament through the hole in the sponge.
