Similar to http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7153 but many parameters. Defaults are a 5mm to 7.8mm shaft which is what I measured on my machine. I got rid of the cut on one side as that led to slightly uneven pressure inducing a bit of wobble. In this model you can change: shaft diameters, bolt sizes, washers (if used), nut traps, and overall dimensions. This will make a strong shaft coupling without using much plastic. The code also makes a cleaner stl then my previous coupling.

Instructions

Open the scad file and generate the custom coupling. Parameters are commented.

On a PrintrBot LC I coupled its 5mm z motors to ACME rod

Everything seemed perfect apart from one layer printed solid in the holes. Was easy to drill out. Presumably some parameters slight throw it for a loop? I am a noob so it could my fault

The one solid layer was intentional so bridging is more effective. Otherwise there is significant droop around the holes.

Thanks for this! The parameter names are quite intuitive, making the coupler very easy to tweak.

This is awesome. I just had my original couplings break this morning and I didn't have a 20mm long 3m bolt for the nophead version I printed out weeks ago. So I made one for a 5mm bolt. You are a life saver. Thank you.
