Huxley Spool Holder
Description
I liked the eMaker style feet on their version of the Huxley thingiverse.com/thing:5631 so much that I had to hack together a matching version for a spool holder.
This thing operates on the same principle as other four bearing spool holders and is sized for Makerbot sized filament spools.

Instructions
You will need the following:
2x 150mm M6 threaded rod
2x 125mm M6 threaded rod
4x 626ZZ ball bearing
16x M6 nut
20x M6 internal tooth lock washer
Assemble as shown, making sure to place a lock washer in between the inside of the foot and the bearing. Inside dimensions are approximately 76mm x 100mm between feet although this is not mission critical. I find it works especially well with 1.75mm filament to feed the filament from the bottom to stop filament unraveling.
Enjoy!

Out of curiosity, how many hours has anyone printed with these type of holders without having to manually untangle or otherwise step in to make sure the printer doesn't destroy itself?
I seems so easy for a tangle to happen.
Thanks!
Actually it works quite well. The bearings allow the spool to roll freely and at the same time the weight of the spool resting on the frame creates enough friction to where the whole thing doesnt spin if the filament tries to unwind. I think the horizontal frame also helps keep it from unwinding. It's run 3 or 4 hour prints before without me watching the thing. It's also easy to change the spools (which I do a lot). I highly recommend this style of spool holder.
