Featured Thing!

Description

Poppa ghost, momma ghost, and baby ghost. This spooky family was printed in new MakerBot® Glow-in-the-Dark PLA Filament. They're so cute, they just might haunt your dreams.

**Update**

I flattened out the bottom of the ghosts to make printing rightside up easier. Depending on your printer, you may be able to print without supports now!

The original models are still included for those who enjoy the appearance of nice drapery, truly one of the finer things in life.

Try printing it with a brim as well as the raft. I find it helps a lot when the object has a small bast

When I printed Ghost 2 at max scale, 0.2 layer height, on a Rep 2 it took like 7 hours, so your result sounds pretty typical.

Yeah, I'm using a MakerFarm Prusa i3 I just got. I flipped it right-side up and now it's printing just fine, except that the supports waste so much filament :) But it's worth it. I will post pics. Bvac, I had a another question... about how long did each of these take you to print? Ghost 1 took me 4.5 hours with 5mm spaced supports and 0.4 layer height. I'm still new to 3d printing, but is that typical? Thanks again!

I'm trying to make this and slice using slic3r but my raft only ends up very tiny and the structure falls early on. Any idea on how to increase the area of the raft using slic3r? Thanks for the awesome thing!

Not sure what specific settings slic3r has for rafts, but MakerWare lays down a thick raft that usually has no problem holding up the ghost. For non-MakerWare slicers printing right side up is probably the safest bet.

How well do these scale? I am going to scale it up and print in clear and put a battery powered candle under it.

If you look at my made-one, the big white one is scaled to "max volume" on a rep 2. At that size I'd recommend printing it right side up, might be too heavy to balance on its head for the duration of the print.
