James Tiberius Kirk #1
Description
This is a sculpture from my recent solo show, "Tomorrow Land"! You can read all about the meaning of the work here: rhgallery.com/site/exhibitions/tomorrowland/tomorrowland_pressrelease.pdf
What's important is this sculpture features the silhouette of William Shatner cut out of a landscape.
It's art so it's not "for" anything other than to impress your friends with your well-developed cultural palette.

Instructions
Print at the highest resolution your printer can muster! I printed this for my show at .22mm.
I recommend the Natural ABS color because it looks the most high-end.

I like the idea but there's a disjoint between the landscape and the silhouette. Like this one, if it were, say, the canyon set they used for every alien planet on TNG or if this were taken from scans of Ohio with a little enterprise or something on it.
Just my 2 cents.

This series of pieces were huge hits on the art circuit this year -- and featured on WSJ blog and elsewhere. Here's what I grabbed from the MakerBot blog:

It's perfect that you chose to share your designs on Thingiverse. Not doing so would have been to ignore one of the most amazing things about this technology.
