Summary

Updated 12/17/2015

Many of the Doctor's most feared opponents have teleported into the TARDIS to steal the last copy of the Black Scroll of Rassilon from the TARDIS library. With no one else who can help the Doctor's past regenerations have been gathered to protect the school. Whoever finds the Black Scroll and escapes first wins! TARDIS run is a game of luck and risk management inspired by Backgammon, Parchisi, and the Ancient Egyptian game Senet.

The board for this game is designed to fold into a neat carrying case that holds everything necessary to play inside. The board prints in one piece and pops off the build platform ready to fold and play, but a large build area is necessary. If a smaller build area is desired use the print-in-parts version of the game: http://pinshape.com/items/15488-3d-printed-tardis-run-game-print-in-parts

Rules are included in image and PDF form. Print the image at 300DPI or use the PDF, cut the rules out and fold in 4ths to fit in the board, assuming the scale was unchanged.

I find it is best to print the board with the charm so the light on top prints well. Plus you get a little charm when you're done. You can also choose to use any of the doctor or monster pawns you want from here:

TARDIS Run is also available for purchase from me on etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/182319698/tardis-run-board-game

Instructions

  • Print the board and included charm in blue at the same time so the tip looks good.
  • Print the doctor pawns in one color. (Green)
  • Print the monster pawns in another color. (Red)
  • Print the white paddles in white.
  • Print the black paddle in black.

Pardon me if its been asked or clearly shown but what did you use as hinge pins?

No hinge pins on this one. Prints in one piece. Hinges are interlocking.

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1208888 has the hinge pins because it prints in seperate pieces for those who can't do the big print areas.

I was looking at the wrong one. Thanks.

I can't get it to print through Simplify3D :(

Works for me. Are you on the latest version? Have you tried increasing or decreasing the number of shells?

I must admit - I only just go the printer yesterday and as such am completely new to it. I printed something fine this morning, and now nothing seems to be coming out of the extruder and when it does, nothing seems to be sticking to the build plate. I have a FlashForge Creator Pro. It is probably something I am doing wrong!

Ah, the file, nor simplify3d are probably not to blame at all. Sounds like your plate wasn't leveled properly and you've jammed your nozzle. Run though the filament loading procedure and if you can get it to noodle out straight when you shove the filament with your hand then relevel the build page and try again. If you've right bent your nozzle you might need to replace it, but this new into things chances are you can clear the clog and be back to printing.

thanks for the help. How often should the plate be re-levelled? Surely not every time I go to print something?? The filament extrudes perfectly (just did a system test print).

First of all, go on Google Groups and subscribe to the Makerbot User group, the 3D Printer Review group, and the FlashForge group. Tons of expertise there. That's where I learned everything I know.

Generally when you get the level right you don't need to do it for a while, but I'm thinking you didn't get it quite right. So expect to relevel a couple of times. For me http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:23257 or one of it's remixes has been invaluable in getting my level right.

Man, now I'm going to have to put together a "New 3D Printer owner survivor kit" video on YouTube in the next few days.

How do you play? I dont know anything about it... But it looks fun!

Under "Thing Files" there's a PDF with the rules. Enjoy!

This is really cool.
The instructions show all 11th doctors and a bunch of villains. Are all of them pawn options or only 4 on each side? I was curious is you could pick different doctors every game, so each player could pick their favourites.

I love how the board folds into the TARDIS. I'll have to print it for sure at some point.

You can print a full set of Doctors and Monsters from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:155207http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... and http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:155208http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... and use any 4 of them you want at a time on a game. You can use the rest to play any other game you want with.
