Mendel X Motor Bracket, Parametric by vik Feb 1, 2010

Description

This is a one-piece design for the Mendel X motor bracket. The clamps are all built-in. All M4 nuts are captive where possible, and only two idlers are provided for the X axis belt to run over. Additionally, there are two loops positioned so that a 50mm PC cooling fan can be used to cool the X motor. This may be necessary if you're hunting for speed and making the X motor a trifle warm!

Nope. No bearings needed.

The Parts List do not include any 624 bearings.
I ASS-U-ME that you need two of them for your redesign.

Yeah, at the moment I just clamp them low. Seems to work, but then I'm using helicopter belt.

There will be a new carriage design too, but it's not done yet. It'll go on Thingiverse when it's ready and then I can do the whole bearing-redux Mendel as a thingy too!

Instructions

It's mostly parametric so you can fiddle with rail spacing to make it fit a Darwin chassis etc.

This part also does away with the need for X Motor Spacers. A small notch in the end of the bracket rests directly on the Z Guide Rail and constrains it.

skeinforge. just exported it from openscad and it did it again. It has to do with the ears. for some reason it is reversing the normal for the wall. the inside holes for the ears are filled and the outside wall for everything else is a single hollow shell. I dont need the ears so going to removed them and rexport and reskein it.

just got done printing this, but had a slight problem. the bottom 8-10 layers had the shells inverted so it printed realy strange. i think ill still be able to use it but it came out funky. I believe i downloaded the stl rather than converting the scad and exporting.

Weird. I used skeinforge to slice the STL. What was your weapon of choice?
